Privacy policy

This policy describes how Appcellent ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the Stud Finder — Wall Wood Detector iOS application (the "App") and the website at thestudfinder.app (the "Site"). Our goal is simple: we collect as little as possible, and we never sell personal data.

The short version

The App works entirely on your device. It does not require an account, does not transmit magnetometer readings off-device, and does not include analytics SDKs.
The Site does not use advertising trackers or set cookies. If privacy-preserving web analytics are enabled, they are cookieless and anonymized.
We do not sell or rent any information to third parties.

1. Information collected by the App

The App reads your device's magnetometer to help locate metal fasteners behind walls. All sensor readings are processed on-device and are not stored, transmitted, or shared. The App does not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location.

Standard App Store telemetry (crash reports, download counts, aggregate usage statistics) may be collected by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. We receive only aggregated, anonymized reports and cannot tie them back to an individual.

2. Information collected by the Site

The Site is a static marketing website. It does not require registration and does not set tracking cookies. Your browser may make standard requests (HTML, CSS, images, fonts) served via our content delivery network (Cloudflare), which may process your IP address for abuse-prevention and routing purposes under Cloudflare's privacy terms.

If we enable Cloudflare Web Analytics, aggregate page-view information is collected without using cookies or fingerprinting and without transmitting IP addresses to us.

3. Contact form and email

If you email us at studfinder@appcellent.co, we will see your email address and the content of your message. We use that information only to respond and retain it no longer than necessary.

4. Third-party services

Apple App Store. Distribution and in-app purchases (if any) are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Cloudflare. Hosting and content delivery for the Site.
Google Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com. Google may process your IP address for this purpose.

5. Children

The App and the Site are general-audience products. They are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we collect so little, most requests can be fulfilled quickly. Email studfinder@appcellent.co to exercise any of these rights.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we process. No system is perfectly secure; please contact us immediately if you believe you have found a vulnerability.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date at the top of the page.
